HSMC academics, Helen Dickinson and Robin Miller, were recently invited to speak at the House of Lords at an event organised by Lord Victor Adebowale of Turning Point - a social enterprise organisation running health and social care services across England and Wales. Entitled 'Commissioning for tomorrow: bringing together today's learning disability leaders to navigate tomorrow's commissioning landscape', the presentation considered the likely changes and challenges in the future commissioning of learning disability services.
Turning Point started 40 years ago as a small but pioneering alcohol project based in south east London. It is now one of the country's leading social care organisations, providing services for people with a range of complex needs, including those affected by drug and alcohol misuse, mental health problems and those with a learning disability
