The department has recently played host to a short study visit by Professor Gregor Coster from New Zealand - the purpose of which was to share international learning on health needs assessment and priority-setting, including disinvestment.  As part of his visit, Professor Coster took part in a joint seminar with HSMC colleagues entitled 'World Class Decommissioning', delivered a Masterclass for NHS colleagues in Solihull and met other NHS colleagues from around the region to discuss the issues informally.

Professor Coster has been Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand since 2005.  He is a professor of general practice and was formerly Chairman of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.  He is currently Chairman of the Counties Manukau District Health Board that funds and provides health services for that district.
