HSMC has produced a good practice guide aimed at helping local councils re-assess and re-settle older people in care homes when they close. The guide, commissioned by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, stresses the importance of not making rushed decisions, offers practical advice on managing closures and provides a series of helpful checklists. The report is published at a time when the threat of closure of homes and the resettlement of their residents has been receiving unprecedented media coverage.
