Cultural performance and partnerships

Posted on Friday 2nd September 2011

A recent seminar at HSMC considered the issue of cultural performance and partnerships. Visiting academic, Jon McKenzie, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (US), was invited to present his thesis on cultural performance, with a response by HSMC academic Helen Dickinson and DeMontfort University colleague, Helen Sullivan, on the application of this to collaboration in health and social care partnerships.

McKenzie's work on 'the embodied enactment of cultural forces' offers a new way of considering the enactment of policy and how policies may be developed more effectively to influence practice. The seminar resulted in lively debate among participants and valuable contributions to the agenda. A follow-up seminar is planned for early 2012 at De Montfort University to continue the conversation and development of a theoretical framework.

If you are interested in attending this seminar, please contact Helen Dickinson, h.e.dickinson@bham.ac.uk or Catherine Durose, cdurose@dmu.ac.uk.
