Professor Martin Powell is due to speak at an event entitled ‘What was the impact of the Coalition government on social policy outcomes and welfare governance?’ at the London School of Economics on 27 April.

Other speakers are Professor Hugh Bochel, Professor of Public Policy at the University of Lincoln; Professor Sir John Hills, Richard Titmuss Professor of Social Policy, Director of the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE) and Co-Director of the International Inequalities Institute at LSE; Professor Ruth Lupton, Professor of Education at the University of Manchester, and  Dr Polly Vizard, Associate Professorial Research Fellow at CASE, LSE. The respondents for the event are Nick Timmins (The King's Fund, Institute for Government, and former public policy editor at the Financial Times) and Peter Taylor Gooby (Research Professor of Social Policy at the University of Kent). The event will be chaired by Professor Coretta Phillips, Associate Professor of Social Policy at the LSE.

This event which is free to all will launch two new complementary publications analysing UK social policy from 2010 to 2015.
