HSMC's Catherine Needham and Judith Smith will be UK delegates at the British Council UK-Netherlands symposium on older people’s care in Utrecht, Netherlands.

The 2016 Apeldoorn: British-Dutch Dialogue Conference will be held from Friday 18 November to Saturday 19 November 2016 at the Paushuize in Utrecht. The central conference theme will be 'In Our Care: The Future of Long-Term Elderly Care in England and the Netherlands '.

The Apeldoorn 2016 conference aims to bring together 100 people from England and the Netherlands who have in-depth knowledge and experience in the field of long-term elderly care, but who may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet. Attendees will include a wide range of people involved in delivering and planning care, from long-term care providers to academics, entrepreneurs, insurers, social enterprises, voluntary organisations, patients’ associations, local authorities and government.

The hope is that by exploring differences between the two countries and highlighting some innovative approaches being taken to address emerging challenges, participants can begin to plot a pathway to better, fairer, more affordable care in both countries in the future.
