Delegation meet with Baroness Warsi to discuss work on Anti-Muslim hatred

Description
IASS's Chris Allen was part of a delegation who met with Baroness Sayeeda Warsi at the Foreign & Commonwealth Offices in London. The meeting was arranged to discuss the future work programme of the Cross-Government Working Group on Anti-Muslim Hatred on which Chris Allen sits in an independent expert capacity.

Walked lecture

Description
Few would imagine what the Birmingham Foundation Academy's Social Policy students had planned for them earlier this week. Instead of their normal lecture, the students were taken on a 'walked lecture' around the city of Birmingham.

Around 75 students gathered in the Business School on Thursday 27 September to take part in the 'QuestionTime@IASS' event. Based on the popular BBC1 television programme, the IASS event brought together an eight strong panel of politicians, policymakers and commentators.

Distinguished Speaker Series Guest Lecture: Professor Steven Vertovec

Description
Professor Steven Vertovec, Director of the Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Gottingen and Honorary Joint Professor of Sociology and Ethnology, University of Gottingen, will deliver a guest lecture on 'Diversification and 'diversity': configurations, representations and encounters' and will explore his ideas around 'super-diversity'.

'Your Money and Your Life' module graduate

Description
CHASM ran a new module for final-year undergraduates in social policy, 'Your Money and Your Life: from welfare state to personal finance'. A total of 25 students took the module, giving it an average satisfaction rating of 4.7 out of 5.
