Rebecca is a sociologist of work and prior to TSRC spent 7 years at the Policy Studies Institute where she undertook a wide range of research on work and employment with a particular focus on labour market disadvantage and the experiences of older workers. Her doctoral research explored the concepts of work and voluntary work and involved depth work history interviews with paid and unpaid workers in two voluntary sector organisations. Rebecca also worked on the ESRC funded qualitative longitudinal (QL) study of young people’s transitions to adulthood ‘Inventing Adulthoods’ at London Southbank University that led to a longstanding interest and involvement in QL research which she has further developed on the ‘Real Times’ project at TSRC.
