David is interested in both cognitive and motor difficulties that can arise following stroke and how these affect how people move and function.  He has a particular interest in the neglect syndrome.  His research aims to understand related difficulties and to develop rehabilitative strategies to help people overcome them.

David qualified as a physiotherapist (1990) and then worked in the National Health Service for many years, specializing in neurological rehabilitation. He completed an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience (1998) and a PhD in Psychology (2004).  He was appointed Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham in October 2013.
