Oliver graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Sports Science and an MSc. in Sport Nutrition from Loughborough University. From 2005 to 2008, Oliver lectured Sport and Exercise Sciences at Loughborough College before beginning his BBSRC funded research at the University of Birmingham into ageing and exercise. His research focuses on the molecular responses to exercise in the young and elderly, and how exercise might be an important tool in limiting the loss of muscle mass and the development of weakness, frailty and type 2 diabetes with advancing age.
Ageing, Sport Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. In particular, I am interested in the molecular responses to exercise training in health, ageing and disease.
