Desktop IT Support Apprentice

36 hours per week.

Starting salary of £13,080 per annum

The great opportunity is a customer facing entry level IT support opportunity within a 2nd line Desktop Support Team that forms part of End Users Services at the University of Birmingham. 

The apprentice will develop essential skills including:

  • Receive support tickets from the IT Service Desk on a broad range of IT Desktop Support incidents.
  • Diagnosing and resolving or
  • Escalating to other team members to meet agreed Service Level agreements.
  • Undertake PC build and PC deployment activities.
  • Setup and configure mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets.
  • Provide proactive support for IT clusters.
  • Deploy and provide support for University and department specific software.
  • Provide users with guidance on how to operate software and/or computer equipment.
  • Support administrative IT activities e.g. IT procurement, backup tape and asset management.

Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance apprentice

36 hours per week - 3 posts.
Starting salary of £12,352 per annum in year one

If you are looking to kick start your maintenance career at a leading University then this is the apprenticeship for you.

Our Estates maintenance team are responsible for preserving the University’s physical heritage and developing the best modern facilities.

The University includes some two hundred buildings has over a hundred hectares of grounds and twenty hectares of sports pitches, all of which is maintained and developed by the Estates Office.

As an Apprentice you would learn a role working within a team in our maintenance section, this will involve the manufacture, installation, repairs and testing of services and equipment in a variety of buildings and structures.

We will provide you with the support and skills needed to complete a combine work / study based qualification that satisfies national standards.
