Your wellbeing at work is crucial in helping you to achieve your full potential. To help you stay healthy and happy at work the University offers a wide range of benefits, services and facilities ranging from flexible working and recreational facilties to counselling services and specialist safety advisors.

The Workplace Wellbeing team, part of Human Resources, has a role to play in many aspects of of our staff members’ working life, from the quality and safety of their physical environment, to how they feel about their work. The aim is to make sure that staff are safe, healthy, and engaged at work. 

The Health and Safety Unit's role is to assist the University in the development and implementation of University Health and Safety Policy and to provide expert advice. 

The Occupational Health team are there to offer advice in a neutral capacity to University of Birmingham employees, managers and the University to assist in maintaining personal health at work, the health of others in the workplace and to assist individuals in remaining at or returning to work should they experience ill health or disability.

Employee Support Services provide a variety of services to support you in your working life. They can provide advice and support on a range of topics from dealing with mental health issues, to additional resources for staff with additional needs and relationships in the workplace. Services include an Employee Advice and Listening Service, Disability Service, Mediation Service, Citizens Advice Bureau, Harrassment Advisory Service and Multifaith Chaplaincy.
