About

Ellie is a Research Associate working predominantly on projects run by the Marine Geophysics Division of VISTA. She has 16 years experience in archaeology, including 11 years in a supervisory role. Her current responsibilities includes processing and analysing seismic data in software packages such as SMT Kingdom and ArcGIS, contributing to peer reviewed publications, creating draft reports and illustrations for marine projects, and the use and support of GIS, 3D visualisation and modelling technology within the group as a whole. Other responsibilities include staff training, and lecturing and student support on the Masters courses (Landscape, GIS and Virtual Environments and Professional and Applied Archaeology).

Research

Projects include the Humber Regional Environmental Characterisation project, West Coast Palaeolandscapes project, and the Southern North Sea/ Qatar project funded by NOAA. Previous work includes the Qatar Remote Sensing project (including Historic Environment Record development and GIS training), Life, Work, Death in Birmingham GIS project, and the Longstanton intrasite GIS project. Personal research interests include the use of GIS to analyse documentary and cartographic sources form the 19th century to explore urban development and industrial change.
