Professor Francis Greene is the Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship & Local Economy and is a Professor of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.  His research interests lie in the broad area of small business and entrepreneurship and have included research into new firm start-up, growth, closure, finance and public policy.  He has previously published in journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, the Journal of Management Studies, Economics and Human Biology, the Journal of International Business Studies, and the British Journal of Management.

He is a consulting editor for the International Small Business Journal.  He has previously worked at Durham and Warwick universities; been a visiting professor at Mannheim University, Germany and Swinburne University, Australia; and as a visiting researcher at Barclays Bank and for the New Zealand government.  He has also acted as a consultant for organisations such as the OECD/EU, the Federation of Small Businesses, Capital One, and Pearsons plc.
