About

Mònica’s interest is the study of platelet interactions with pathogens. Her current project is focused on the signalling events underlying bacterial-mediated platelet activation. She is based at the University of Birmingham but carries out part of her research at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (Dublin). She previously investigated on the interactions between platelets and erythrocytes infected by the malaria-causing parasite Plasmodium falciparum (University of Edinburgh). Before that, Mònica performed her PhD project on the transcriptional regulation of the lymphocyte proteins CD5 and CD6 (University of Barcelona).
