About

Zaki Hassan-Smith is a Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary Specialist Registrar in Endocrinology. His clinical interests are in Pituitary and Adrenal disease. His research interests, developed under supervision of Prof Paul Stewart, centre around the long-term effects of glucocorticoids in ageing and disease. He was awarded the Society for Endocrinology Young Endocrinologist prize for top scoring oral communication at the British Endocrine Society Meeting in 2013. Prior to his current European Research Council funded post, he was an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and Specialty Registrar at UHB. He completed his Senior House Officer rotation at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals where he obtained his MRCP. He was House Officer in the Dept of Endocrinology at St. Bart’s and he completed an intercalated BMedSci project under the Supervision of Profs Marta Korbonits and Ashley Grossman.

Dr Hassan-Smith completed a Medical Education Post-Graduate Award at Warwick University in 2009, and has taken an active interest in teaching in the following areas at the University of Birmingham:
