Biography

Dr Arri Coomarasamy is a Subspecialist and Clinical Reader in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, and a Consultant Gynaecologist. He holds numerous research grants, of over £6 million, and has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles. His research program includes leading the two national multicentre randomised trials , one on the role of progesterone therapy in recurrent miscarriages (The PROMISE Trial) and the other on the use of levothyroxine in women with thyroid antibodies (The TABLET Trial) . He is an editor for British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and a trustee of Ammalife, an international charity with a mission to reduce maternal death and disability in the developing world (www.ammalife.com). Dr Coomarasamy received his undergraduate medical training at the University of Birmingham, and subspecialist training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery from Guy’s Hospital, London. He was awarded an MD by the University of Birmingham for his work exploring the integration of diagnostic and therapeutic information.
