Ahmad El-kharouf is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Chemical Engineering department at the University of Birmingham. His main research interest is the development of components for PEFCs. He has been working on the development of coatings for metallic bipolar plates as part of an EU funded project (STAMPEM). He studied the effect of metallic plates on the performance and life time of the cell. Moreover, he has experience in Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA) contamination and degradation mechanisms. He received his PhD on developing the understanding of the effect of GDL properties on PEFC performance and participated in the supervision of PhD students working in this area. 

Prior to this, Ahmad completed a BSc degree in Mechatronics engineering at the University of Jordan and worked in the solar thermal industry. He worked on the design and integration of solar  thermal sytems into conventional residential heating systems.
