It is with great sadness that the University of Birmingham announces the passing away of Mr Louis Mackenzie, Clinical Dental Tutor.  Louis Mackenzie sadly passed away in December 2023.

  • BDS (Birmingham) 1990.

Biography

Louis qualified from Birmingham in 1990 and has worked as an associate at the Selly Park dental centre in Birmingham ever since.

He was appointed as a part-time clinical dental tutor at the school of dentistry in 2004.

He designs and develops e-learning material to support undergraduate teaching.

He runs the special study module in aesthetic restorative dentistry with Professor Owen Addison.

He delivers postgraduate lectures and hands on courses to dentists, foundation year trainees, dental therapists, nurses and masters students (UCLAN) on a variety of subjects including direct and indirect restorative techniques, caries and minimal intervention dentistry.

He received the 2009 university of Birmingham award for teaching excellence.

  • Member of Prep Panel. (Practice based research and evaluation team headed by Prof.F.J.T.Burke).
