About

Rachel Arnold is a part-time Clinical Lecturer at the School of Dentistry, responsible for one-to-one teaching of dental students during patient treatment sessions, and head of one of the year 4 firms. Her main interest is the introduction of students to patients attending for emergency treatment in the Primary Care Department.

Outside the School she is a General Dental Practitioner in Moseley.

Rachel is a regular presenter of courses run by Postgraduate Deaneries around the country.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Health Professionals, University of Birmingham (2008).
  • BDS, University of Birmingham (1984).

Biography

Rachel qualified in Dentistry from the University of Birmingham in 1984, and has worked as a GDP in Birmingham since then.

She was appointed part-time clinical assistant at the Dental Hospital in 1993, and became interested in teaching through her contact with students in the department of Oral Surgery.

She was appointed part-time clinical lecturer at the School of Dentistry in 2000. As well as being responsible for reporting on the progress of year 4 students she assists in the running of the 4th year OSCE each year, and sits on the Curriculum Development Committee.
