About

Patricia Gorecki is currently an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery. She started her specialty training in Oral Surgery at the Birmingham Dental Hospital in April 2013.

Apart from her clinical work, she is also involved in clinical research, focussing on post-operative pain evaluation, and takes part in teaching BDS students in Oral Surgery.

Biography

Patricia studied dentistry at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. Following her dental qualification, she completed her Dr. med. dent. degree and started the specialty training in Oral Surgery at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department in Erlangen. In April 2013 she joined the Oral Surgery Team at the Birmingham Dental Hospital, where she now works as an Academic Clinical Lecturer / Specialty Registrar.

Teaching

Research

For her Dr. med. dent. thesis Patricia concentrated on Cancer Research, in particular on assessing the malignant potential of oral leukoplakias. In July 2013 she was awarded a poster prize for her dissertation “Detection of MAGE-A expression predicts malignant transformation of oral leukoplakia“.

Since joining the Birmingham Dental Hospital her focus is on clinical research, especially the evaluation of post-operative pain following the removal of mandibular third molars.
