Nigel Orchard is a part-time Clinical Lecturer at the School of Dentistry where he is responsible for teaching undergraduate dental students, normally on a one to one basis, during patient treatment sessions.
When not teaching he is an associate general practitioner in Devizes. He is involved in the Vocational Training programme at the Practice.
Nigel joined the Royal Air Force while an undergraduate dental student at the University of Birmingham from where he qualified in 1971.
He practiced as a GDP in the RAF in various posts in the United Kingdom, Western Europe and Cyprus. He gained his Membership in General Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1988 and was then appointed a Vocational Trainer.
He studied Prosthetic Dentistry at the Eastman Institute and gained his Master of Science in 1994. He was then appointed a Royal Air Force Clinical Adviser in Prosthetic Dentistry.
Nigel left the RAF in 1997 and became a partner in a Dental practice in Devon. Since 1995 he has worked as an Associate and currently practices in Devizes. He was appointed part-time clinical lecturer at the School of Dentistry in 2007.
