Julia has a background in teaching in both secondary school and further education. She works part-time as a Senior Educational Psychologist for a local authority in the West Midlands.

Biography

Julia completed a conversion course in psychology with the Open University whilst working as a teacher in Birmingham. She qualified as an Educational Psychologist in 2000 and completed her doctorate in 2009. Julia began working as an educational psychologist in the West Midlands in September 2001 and now manages a multi-professional team. She has been an academic and professional tutor on the initial training course for educational psychologists at the University of Birmingham since 2009.

She is interested in supervising students with the following research interests:

  • professional practice in educational psychology services
  • social constructionism with a particular interest in gender
  • anti-oppressive practice in educational psychology
  • the educational implications of acquired brain injury.

Research

Educational Psychology with a particular interests in social constructionism, feminism, gender and anti-oppressive practice.
