Currently, I am responsible for the year round EAP1 Presessional which prepares international foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate (research) students for university entry.
My interest in EFL began after gaining my first degree, a BA in Linguistics in 1980. This was consolidated with a PGCE in Teaching ESL, an MA in Linguistics & ELT, (both from the University of Leeds) and an MBA (University of Hull).
Following many years of teaching and middle-management positions in Finland, the Netherlands, China, the United Arab Emirates and Spain, I decided to pursue my career in the area of Business English. After joining EISU in April 2001 I set up the Business Management English (BME) Presessional Course, designing course materials and collaborating in a number of in-house publications. I directed this programme until September 2008, as part of my responsibilities as Director of Business English Programmes.
My main professional interests are teacher development, educational management in the HE sector, academic writing and EAP course design.
