Biography

2009-2010 - Postdoctoral Researcher at the Scuola Superiore di Studi Umanistici of Bologna (directed by Professor U. Eco) – research title: Expatriated Women Writers in France: the Experience of Writing in French during the Second Half of Twentieth Century.

2010 - Visiting Scholar at the Centre Études Féminines et Études de Genre – Université Paris VIII.

2006-2009 - PhD in French and Francophone Literature, under joint supervision between University of Bologna and University of Strasbourg. Thesis Title: “From Cry to Speech”: Subalternity, Community and Writing in Francophone Caribbean Literatures.

During my PhD I was a member of the prestigious European Doctoral College of Strasbourg, “Rosa Parks” 2008 cohort. I also gained a scholarship for “co-tutelle de thèse” by Université franco-italienne – Vinci Program.

Teaching

2012 - Creative Writing and Intercultural Theory course for the MA in Euro-Islamic Studies, University of Padova (second semester - 40 hours), discussing Glissant, Condé and postcolonial theory.

Research

My current research interests deal with: Caribbean literatures and cultures, postcolonial studies, biopolitics, the relation between poetry and politics, literature and cultural diversity, literature and racism, contemporary literary theory (psychoanalysis, structuralism, stylistics and post-structuralism).

I am currently working on a monograph about the Martinican poet and philosopher Édouard Glissant. My Marie Curie research project at UOB is entitled: “Caribbean Biopolitics of Literature. Shaping Life, History and Community through the Transformative Power of Literature”. Scientist in Charge: Dr Louise Hardwick. The project has been funded by the European Commission - € 209,033.
