I'm interested in the transformations of 'religion' and 'spirituality' in conditions of modernity, particularly under the impact of the human sciences and of the media. I've written on psychologists' and sociologists' appropriation of the anthropological archive inthe early 20th century and the survival of prophetic discourse in the present day - particularly on the American right. I'm currently researching faith schools in the UK.
