About

Rosanna Orlando is a Health Economist Research Fellow at the Department of Health Economics.

Rosanna registered as part time PhD student. The working title of her PhD is "Development of a Method to Combine two Qulaity of Life Measures across two Elements of Patient (living and dying) during End of Life continuum.

In April 2011, Rosanna started working on two projects, EU project on End of Life and NIHR project on VTE (Venous Thromboembolism).

Previously Rosanna worked as health economist for the Evidence Review Group (ERG) at the West Midlands Health Technology Assessment Collaboration (WMHTAC).

Rosanna has got a positive attitude to coordinate efforts with other members towards a common goal. She has also got instinctive ability to involve and harmonize peer's personal contribution.

Biography

Rosanna qualified with MPharm in Pharmacy from University “La Sapienza” of Rome, in 2004 (Italy). The same year Rosanna became member of the professional body of Pharmacists in Italy.

Rosanna moved to United Kingdom in 2005 and started practising as a pharmacist after her membership at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (2005).

As pharmacy manager, Rosa managed the day to day running of the pharmacy which included adherence to Standard Operation Procedure, staff training and development, interacting with local prescribers and maintaining relationship with Primary Care Organization.

Rosanna was deputy pharmacy’s director for one year in Italy (2007). Rosanna managed the administrative part of the pharmacy as well as the sales, marketing and dispensing duties

During the academic year 2007-2008 Rosa attended a full-time Master of International Health Care Management, Economics and Policy (MIHMEP) at SDA Bocconi in Milan, Italy.

As a fulfilment of the master programme Rosanna carried out her internship at the Royal College of Physicians in London, UK. Rosanna worked as intern health economist at the National Clinical Guideline Centre (NCGC) for 4 month in 2009.The dissertation title is: Role of Health Economist in developing NICE clinical guidelines. Rosanna’s role was synthesising economic evaluation evidences and developing cost-effectiveness recommendations in NHS practise.

In March 2010, Rosanna joined the Health Economics Unit at the University of Birmingham, where she has been working as health economist with ERG preparing Technology Assessment Reports for NICE.

In April 2011, Rosanna started working for two projects, EU project on end of life and NIHR project on VTE.
