Christina Anderson has responsibility for the physiotherapy clinical team, ensuring that there are appropriate practice placements for students to support their academic programmes. This involves training clinical staff both on and off-site, and ensuring appropriate guidelines and protocols are in place and maintained. As part of this role she visits placement areas in a number of Trusts across the city maintaining important links between clinical practice and the University, whilst also supporting students and educators through the Practice Placement process.
Christina Anderson qualified with a Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy in 1987 at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. After completing her rotational physiotherapy posts in Sandwell and Cambridge, gaining experience across a variety of physiotherapy disciplines, she specialised in Paediatric Physiotherapy, working for 11 years at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she worked primarily with children with cancer. Whilst there she lead one of the physiotherapy teams, managing the staff and workload for that team.
In 2005 she moved into Higher Education at the University of Birmingham, where she leads the Physiotherapy Practice Placement Team, whilst also being involved in teaching and admissions.
She is currently studying towards an MSc in Advancing Practice.
