Jamie is the head of the programming team that develops software applications for the Primary Care Clinical Research and Trials Unit.

Since 2001 he has worked globally in software development in the private and public sector.


  • BSc (Hons) in Computer and Mathematical Science, De Montfort University, 2002


Jamie Garner qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Computer and Mathematical Science from De Montfort University in 2002. He went on to work with the private sector developing software applications for desktops and early handhelds for the pharmaceutical and food industries.

In 2007 he moved into manufacturing and started working for a CAD/CAM company providing bespoke solutions for customers and data integration between the suite of products they provided. In 2009 Jamie joined the NHS where he was a senior developer at Royal Wolverhampton Hospital and later promoted to Deputy Development Applications Manager, where he was responsible for the acute and community development teams.

Jamie joined Primary Care Clinical Sciences as the new programming Team Lead in August 2012


Health Informatics

Within the programming team there is a health informatics research team. They focus on researching new and improved ways to support translational and clinical research within primary and secondary care. One of the aims of the research is to facilitate interoperability within healthcare information systems through the use of standardisation and innovative technologies for clinical research.
