Claire is currently undertaking her PhD research in weight management in Primary Care. She will be looking at taking different cognitive and behavioural approaches to weight control, with particular emphasis on the usefulness of regular weighing and self monitoring techniques.
After completing her studies, Claire worked in sports development trying to increase physical activity levels in women and girls. She then went on to work for Southampton PCT in the Public Health team on the fit 4 life agenda which involved increasing physical activity levels, improving diet and reducing obesity levels across the life course. Continuing on the theme of healthy weights Claire worked for Hampshire County Council as a Healthy Weight Coordinator. This involved working with schools, parents and families to reduce childhood obesity levels. Part of the role also involved working on the healthy weight strategy for Hampshire.
