Kirsty Shires is a Senior Clinical Tutor in Community Based Medicine with responsibility for Years 1 and 2 and GEC1.
Kirsty is also a salaried general practitioner in the North Birmingham area.
Kirsty Shires qualified from Leeds University Medical School in 1998 and did pre registration house jobs in Scarborough and Leeds.
Kirsty returned to Scarborough to complete her Vocational Training Scheme and qualified as a GP in 2003. She remained in Scarborough for 2 years, facilitating a study group for the MRCGP at the Scarborough Postgraduate Education Centre.
She returned to the West Midlands in 2005 and has worked in her current post in General Practice since 2006. The practice is a teaching and training practice. Having an interest in medical education, she undertook a post graduate certificate in teaching at Birmingham University.
Kirsty started her academic post at Birmingham University in October 2010.
