About

Jayne is a research fellow working on the ExACT study, which is an NIHR funded study looking into extended treatment for DVT and pulmonary embolism.

Biography

University of Leicester, where she was investigating the chemical and biological properties of the nitric oxide pre-cursors, S-nitrosothiols using a number of in vitro techniques.

She continued in the area of vascular biology with a post-doc role in the Department of Diabetes and Vascular Medicine at the University of Exeter, where she investigated the possible causes of hypertension in the elderly using in vivo and in vitro techniques in human subjects. She was also a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London, looking into the role of thiols in the synergistic action of nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide on the inhibition of aggregation of human washed platelets.

Jayne had a break from scientific research where she worked in the area of primary care health informatics, training and supporting GP practices and PCT staff in data quality and information management.

Research

Jayne is responsible for the day-to-day management of the ExACT study, which is investigating extended warfarin treatment for the prevention of recurrence of DVT and pulmonary embolism in patients being treated for a first episode of an unprovoked venous thromboembolism

Other activities

Jayne is a member of the study advisory group for the EndoPart study. This is a 12 month research project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, looking at improving the well being of couples coping with endometriosis.
