Kristina Routh qualified as a medical doctor (MBChB) in the University of Bristol in 1985. She went on to pursue a career in Medical Microbiology in the West Midlands before taking an extended career break for domestic reasons. During this time she worked as a freelance medical writer.
In 2004 Kristina entered the Specialty of Public Health as a Senior House Officer, being appointed as a Specialist Registrar later that year. She achieved the MPH in 2006 and the Membership of the Faculty of Public Health by examination in 2007. She became a Fellow of the Faculty after being awarded her CCT in 2010.
Kristina has gained experience in a variety of places within the West Midlands during her Public Health training including Birmingham East & North and South Staffordshire Primary Care Trusts, the Regional Department of Health, the West Midlands Specialised Commissioning Team and the University of Birmingham (Health Technology Appraisal).
Following her appointment in September 2010 to the post of Clinical Senior Lecturer Kristina now has the role of providing clinical advice into the Horizon Scanning of medical devices and diagnostics tests, as well as the development of a new style of disease-specific review.
Kristina is responsible for the oversight of expert Public Health input into the Graduate Entry Course for medical undergraduates, and continues to undertake teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels in Public Health and Epidemiology
