PhD: Outcome assessment for use in economic evaluations of interventions for menorrhagia

Sabina Sanghera is currently a Doctoral Researcher in Health Economics. In her research she is attempting to identify which outcome measure is most appropriate for use in economic evaluations of interventions for Menorrhagia. This research is nested within a large HTA funded randomised controlled trial for which Sabina is also conducting the economic evaluation.

Biography

Having graduated with a BMedSci (Hons) in Medical Science from the University of Birmingham Sabina went on to work in the NHS as a project manager. In this position she worked alongside a multi-disciplinary team to implement a pilot project across hospitals throughout the West Midlands to improve data collection and ensure that national health targets were met.

In 2010, Sabina completed a Masters degree in Health Economics at the University of Birmingham. Upon completion she immediately took up an NIHR funded post as a Doctoral Researcher where she is assessing the appropriateness of outcome measures in menorrhagia and will explore the use of an alternative measure, such as willingness-to-pay

In addition to her doctoral research Sabina is also interested in the methodology of economic evaluations of diagnostic tests.
