Khalid A. Al-Ghamdi is an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering at King Abdulaziz University and an Honarary Research Fellow in the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. He is currently the Vic-Dean of the Research & Consulting Institute at King Abdulaziz University and the Deputy CEO of Jeddah Valley Technical Company.

Biography

Khalid A. Al-Ghamdi qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Industrial Engineering from King Abdulaziz University in 2000. He worked for the Saudi Airlines during the period 2000-2002. He was awarded a scholarship to pursue his postgraduate studies from King Abdulaziz University in 2003. In 2004, he joined the University of Birmingham where he earned an MSc in Operations Management (2005) and a PhD in Optimization in Experimental Design (2011). He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified EFQM Assessor (Assessor of Business Excellence based on the EFQM Model). Dr Khalid is currently holding several positions including:

  • Vice-Dean of the Research & Consulting Institute
  • Deputy CEO, Jeddah Valley Technical Company (Saudi Arabia)
  • Consultant in the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education
  • Consultant of the University Vice-President for Business and Knowledge Creativity at King Abdulaziz University
  • Member of the team in charge of the development of the third strategic plan for King Abdulaziz University
  • Head of Research & Development Committee at the Industrial Engineering Department at King Abdulaziz University
  • Head of the Innovation and Enterpnurship Department, Higher Education Ministry Conference of Saudi Students
  • Member of Senior Projects Committee, Industrial Engineering Department at King Abdulaziz University
