It is with great sadness that the University of Birmingham has learned that Professor Rex Harris has passed away. Professor Harris had a long and distinguished career.
He was a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Materials. He began his affiliation with Birmingham when he studied for a BSc and graduated in 1960.
Professor Harris was a Professor of Materials Science and was Head of School for Metallurgy and Materials from 1996 to 2001.
