Dr Lin completed her PhD research at Orygen Youth Health in Melbourne, a world leader in the early identification, prevention and treatment of serious mental illness in young people. She focused on the neurocognition and functional outcome of youth thought to be at ultra-high risk of developing psychotic disorder. Since April 2011, she has been working at the University of Birmingham.

Dr Lin is available for postgraduate supervision.

Dr Lin conducts research on the onset of serious mental illness in adolescents and young adults. Most of her work is on neurocognition and functional outcome following risk for psychosis. Other research has focused on the extended psychosis continuum, exploring subclinical psychotic experiences in the different populations. She is working on the theoretical development and testing of a clinical staging model of mental illness. Dr Lin has also been involved in research investigating the social and neurologic outcomes of youth with type 1 diabetes.
