Before joining HSMC Annette held leadership posts with the NHS Modernisation Agency and the Institute for Innovation and Improvement. As a senior researcher with the NHS Modernisation Agency she led research and evaluation projects on the spread and sustainability of national NHS service improvement programmes, facilitated national and international service improvement master classes and regularly presented at The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and International Society for Quality Improvement (ISQUA) international conferences.
At the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement Annette played a key role in the development of the newly formed organisation’s innovation methodology, a process that was applied to the design and development of all NHS Institute programmes. She designed and delivered a transformational change and leadership development programme for NHS chief executives. She was advisor to the Department of Health and also developed service improvement programmes and carried out evaluations on: clinical and financial partnerships; health and social care systems change; telehealth and telecare; quality improvement programmes and digital healthcare.
Annette is an executive coach and is particularly interested in supporting clinicians during their transition into senior leadership roles. As an independent consultant Annette was a visiting lecturer in organisational development (University of Lincoln) and qualitative research methods (University of Warwick). She also carried out evaluations (Health Education East Midlands, University of Warwick); supported senior leaders to develop strategic narrative and facilitated OD workshops (Health Education East Midlands) and team and organisational development programmes (East Midlands Leadership Academy; East Midlands Clinical Senate; Chartered Institute of Finance and Accounting).
