The majority of University accommodation is located in the Vale Village, just 20 minutes walk from the main Edgbaston campus in landscaped, lakeside parkland. Both catered and self-catering accommodation is available and self-catering residents can use the catering outlets in The Hub on a ‘pay as you eat’ basis.
Choose from a single study-bedroom with shared facilities or have your own en suite bathroom. Deaf alerts are available at Shackleton; deaf alerts and wheelchair adaptation in Mason; and wheelchair adapted rooms at Elgar Court.
The Vale's lively community life centres on the food court and social activities at the Hub. Fusion is the main restaurant and Rio’s offers snacks and coffee. Other facilities include a launderette, shop, bar and 24-hour reception. There is also a Vale Residents' Association which organises regular events.
The Hub
The Hub is located in the heart of The Vale village and is the situated below Shackleton.
It provides recreational facilities including bars, restaurants, convenience store, The Vale
24hour reception and a coin operrated launderette. The Hub is available to all students
who want a meal, sandwich, coffee or relaxing drink.
Fusion is the main restaurant and Rio’s offers snacks. Meal Plan is accepted at BOTH
of these outlets Monday to Friday during term time. Fusion is open Monday to Friday,
7.30am to 11.00am, 12.00 till 2.00pm and 4.30 to 9.00pm (8.00pm on Fridays)
The Meal Plan is an easy way for paying for food at The Hub with funds held
on The University ID card.

Shackleton
Housing 350 students at the heart of the Vale Village community, Shackleton offers mainly catered accommodation through the Meal Plan. Each flat has between two and eight study bedrooms, most of which are en suite, with a shared kitchen and dining area.
Meals are available in The Hub, on the ground floor and are provided for 32 weeks per year. In addition there are 15 apartments offering self-catering accommodation. No car parking spaces are available.

Maple Bank
Situated at the top of the Vale Village, Maple Bank comprises 87 flats providing accommodation for 435 students offering either self-catering or Meal Plan options. Each flat has five study bedrooms plus a shared kitchen diner, bathroom and toilet facilities. This hall does not have car parking spaces.

Elgar Court
If you stay in Elgar Court, you will be joining 236 students in 40 self-catering flats. Each flat has either five or six en suite single study-bedrooms plus a shared kitchen and dining area. No parking is available.

Tennis Courts
Tennis Court currently comprises 137 flats accommodating 694 students in shared bathroom accommodation. However, for the 2012/2013 academic year we are building an additional 90 approx en-suite rooms (The virtual tour of an en-suite room to be available later in 2012). Both self-catering and Meal Plan options are available and each flat includes between four and six study bedrooms, a kitchen, lounge, as well as bathroom and toilet facilities. There are no car parking spaces.

Aitken
For the 2012/2013 academic year Aitken is available for Postgraduate students only, and comprises 23 flats offering self-catering accommodation on a 50 week contract for a total of 147 students. Each flat is made up of six to eight single study bedrooms with wash basins, shared kitchen/dining rooms, bathrooms and toilets. There are no car parking spaces.

Chelwood
A small residence overlooking the lake, Chelwood has 50 en suite rooms with shared kitchen facilities. Accommodation is provided on a Meal Plan basis and the price includes a weekly clean of the kitchen and communal areas. Car parking is not available.

Mason
Opened in 2008 and located at the south of the Vale Village, Mason is the University’s newest hall. It has 804 en suite rooms in five or six bed flats and 36 apartments with double beds which are suitable for couples (42 or 50 week contract). Mason offers both self-catered and Meal Plan, and for 2012/2013 some flats will be made available for Postgraduate students on a 50 week contract. This is a very popular site due to its pleasant views and close location to the campus. No car parking is available.
