The Student Mentor Scheme is here to provide you with advice and guidance whilst living in University accommodation. The Scheme can help you with a wide variety of issues including:
• Shared living and accommodation related issues
During your studies you may require advice and support if issues in your flat arise and advice on finding a house for your second year.
• Your academic course
During your studies you may require advice and support with the transition to independent learning, extenuating circumstances, exam stress and plagiarism.
• Financial matters
During your studies you may need advice on your financial situation, whether this is help with budgeting, extra sources of funding or employability.
• Your general wellbeing whilst living and studying at the University
During your studies you may require emotional support to help you through any issues you experience, help settling-in, advice on personal safety or simply need someone to talk to.
The Scheme offers a variety of services to you throughout the academic year. This includes a timetable table of activity during Welcome Week, individual mentoring support, drop-ins during important times of the year and also mediation to help you work through any flat issues. In addition, you will receive useful information to help you tackle important student issues.

Student Mentors can also provide you with extra support when you arrive at University to help with orientation around your new home and also throughout the year. This support can be a one off or on a more regular basis depending on your needs. Whatever you need help with, and whenever you need it, the Student Mentor Scheme is here for you.
