International student accommodation guarantee
We understand the importance of securing suitable accommodation when you are getting use to an unfamiliar environment and meeting new people. This is why we guarantee a place in University accommodation to all EU / international students who are new to Birmingham (provided that you meet the criteria detailed in our International Guarantee Scheme).
UK students
For UK domiciled students a wide selection of private sector accommodation is available in the local area. This includes single flats, shared flats, houses for different-sized groups, properties for families, and lodgings with a residential landlord.
In addition, the University has allocation rights to two new developments called Mansion Brook and Metchley Hall. These are purpose built, modern complexes offering a variety of studios located within easy walking distance from campus, and are suitable for both Postgraduate and Undergraduate students. All studios are fitted to a high standard and fully-equipped with everything you need. Both sites have good transport links close-by to the city centre. UK postgraduates are now able to apply for these properties through our online application form.
Also, two University newly refurbished properties (3 and 7 Pritchatts Road) are available to be applied for, although we cannot fully guarantee you will be allocated one of these rooms in line with the terms of the guarantee scheme.
Birmingham Student pad
Our flat search scheme can put you in touch with other prospective students before arriving in Birmingham, enabling you to rent accommodation as part of a group. You can also use our new online search service Birmingham Student Pad.
Simply visit the site and you will be provided with a comprehensive and up-to-date database of private sector properties enabling you to find the property most suited to your needs as quickly and easily as possible.
We operate a quality control system that incorporates all the properties available on its online search engine. Featured properties have been checked and graded against a pre-defined set of minimum standards as stipulated by the University.
If you experience any problems with the website, please email l.a.bartram@bham.ac.uk.
