The Student Recruitment and Outreach team have developed a number of resources to support Parents, Teachers and Careers Advisers.
Videos
We have produced a number of short films for students in Years 12 and 13, designed to give them important information on the UCAS process, choosing a university and preparing for life as an undergraduate. These can be very useful resources both for pupils doing independent research and also within the classroom.
The following topics show just a sample of what is available. All our videos, which include interviews with students, academics, admissions tutors and alumni, are currently available on the University’s YouTube channel.
Study skills for sixth form students website
The Skills 4 Uni interactive website enables sixth form students to develop the skills needed at university. The website provides tips, advice, stimulating activities and materials.
Junior prospectus
Our junior prospectus, aimed at Years 10 upwards can be used with the Learning Resource Pack, which contains exercises to help your students understand higher education.
You can order printed copies from k.buckley@bham.ac.uk
Newsletters
We also provide a termly printed newsletter, the Schools and Colleges Update, which features information on forthcoming events as well as updates on recent activities and developments in Higher Education.
This is complemented by a regular e-newsletter which allows us to update Teachers and Careers Advisors on developments in Higher Education as they happen and provide timely information on events.
If you wish to be added to our mailing list for either or both newsletters please contact Clair Abbey, email c.abbey@bham.ac.uk.
