The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the regulations and ethical issues surrounding the collection and use of human biomaterials for research. It will provide a background to the Human Tissue Act 2004 and what has changed for researchers since it became law, information about what regulatory approvals are required, and also about centralised tissue banking. The course will also provide a forum for the discussion of the interesting ethical issues surrounding the use of human tissue, associated clinical data, and research findings.
