When choosing a university you will find it very useful to visit the campus to view firsthand the facilities, to take in the atmosphere and to speak to current students and staff. If you are in the UK, you are very welcome to visit the Birmingham Foundation Academy.
We have many opportunities for you to visit throughout the year and would encourage you to try and visit on one of our Open Days or Applicant visit days (see further information below). If this is not possible, you can visit at any time and we will be happy to organise a schedule for you.
If you plan to visit the University independently or for any of the events listed below, please do contact the Birmingham Foundation Academy at least one week in advance, so that we can help you to make the most of your day.

Undergraduate Open Day
Our Undergraduate Open Days offer you the perfect opportunity to hear first-hand from our current students and teaching staff about living and learning at Birmingham. Explore our campus, our facilities and special attractions including The Barber Institute of Fine Arts and the University Library on these days and get a taste of campus life. Applicant Visit Days
Reading through a prospectus is not the same as coming to visit the University in person. ‘Invitation only’ applicant visit days are held from November to April when students who have applied to study at Birmingham are invited to a VIP day where you can meet current students, tour our facilities and visit our student accommodation.
A typical BFA Applicant Visit Day schedule would include the following activities: A visit to Priorsfield, the BFA Hub and English language Centre, a visit to one of our academic departments in the College associated to your Pathway and a meeting with the Pathway Lead.
The schedule can be tailored to your interests and will be designed and sent to you before your visit.
Complement your programme by visiting sessions, which are run by the University's Student Recruitment team. Events are for applicants, parents and other guests and include:
Campus walking tours, Presentation including information on the University experience, Accommodation and Student Life, Accommodation bus tours.

To register your attendance at an Applicant Visit Day: Please follow the instructions in the e-mail invitation (invitations will be sent to all applicants by e-mail).
Individual BFA Visit
If you cannot come to the University on one of our Open Days or Applicant visit days, we encourage you to come on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when our guided campus tours take place at 11.00am and 2.00pm. Tours are conducted by students currently studying at the University, who will give you an insight into being a student at Birmingham.If this is not possible, you can visit at any time and we will be happy to organise a schedule for you.
We can organise a schedule that can be tailored to your interests and will be designed and sent to you before your visit, as long as you have registered your visit with us at least one week in advance.

Visiting the City
Birmingham is a cosmopolitan and vibrant city with plenty of cultural and social opportunities. If you are visiting the University, you should also consider allowing time to visit the City of Birmingham.

Getting here
The University is just a short taxi, bus or train journey from the City Centre. The city is at the centre of England and at the hub of its transport network, only one and a half hours away from London by train. Birmingham Airport is just 25 minutes by taxi from the University’s Edgbaston campus and offers direct flights to the USA, North Africa, Dubai, and European destinations with connections worldwide via Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Istanbul.
