Qualitative Research Methods

Summary

Through a series of workshops and practical sessions, you will be introduced to a variety of qualitative research methods and analysis, which have been developed and used within health and medical research. You will be encouraged to learn through experience, through practical sessions, and in research tasks completed in directed study time. You will also be trained in research writing as appropriate for different methodologies and traditions.

Stand Alone Course

This module can be taken as a stand alone course if required. To apply, please contact Tricia Henley, Programme Administrator, 0121 414 3163, mph@contacts.bham.ac.uk.

All applications for the module must be received by the course administrator a minimum of one month before the start date of the module.

Please note for some types of dissertations you will need to attend certain modules. For example: Qualitative Research Methods must be attended if planning to do a piece of qualitative research for a dissertation. Similarly Methodological Basis of Health Technology Assessment must be attended if planning to do a Systematic Review. And for a general qualitative piece of work attendance on the Epidemiology Statistics and Research Methods/Epidemiology Statistics and Health Information are requirements.
