This module facilitates analysis of your prior experience in neurological rehabilitation to enable the exploration of this specialist area in the context of evidence based practice. It builds upon your existing knowledge and experience of the assessment and management of neurological dysfunction to enable understanding and effective management of the complexity of clinical presentations. This is achieved through the establishment of a framework of continuing Professional Development and a focus on the development of clinical reasoning and clinical expertise.

By the end of the module you should be able to:

Demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills in the assessment and management of neurological dysfunction

Critically evaluate the existing approaches to the assessment and management of neurological rehabilitation in the context of Best Practice

Evaluate and further develop their communication skills and neurological physiotherapy manual skills

Justify decision making within the process of patient assessment and management

Evaluate and progress the management intervention in neurological rehabilitation

Critically analyse the psychosocial issues relevant to the assessment and management of neurological dysfunction

A 2000 word essay exploring key issues of assessment and management of neurological dysfunction; 50% Seminar presentation of neurological rehabilitation case history; and facilitation of discussion; 50%
