In this module knowledge acquisition and communication skills are developed. The use of internet search engines and literature search engines are introduced and the skills applied to acquiring information related to issues in dental practice. Approaches to the critical appraisal of the relevance and validity of the content of literature and marketing literature are introduced; including the hierarchy and robustness of evidence relative to the strengths and limitations of evidenced based dentistry. This work is linked to the development of the core IT skills in word processing and graphics required to produce simple patient information leaflets and letters.
