Erasmus and Exchange Students in  Arts and Law

Every year around 150 students from abroad come and study here for one term or a full academic year.

Year after year, the visiting students report that the time they spend living in Britain is profitable and enjoyable, both academically and socially. It is, for many students, a significantly formative experience. Once you get used to British weather and British food you will almost certainly join the large and growing number of students for whom Birmingham becomes a very special memory.

As a Humanities Erasmus/Exchange Student you may choose modules from this list.

Choosing your modules

  • Birmingham students usually take a total of 120 Birmingham credits for a full academic year.
  • You can take a maximum of 40 credits in the English department.
  • If you are an Erasmus student, you should take at least one module (20 credits) in the department that teaches the literature and language of your country. This is may be a translation module, but could also be something literary, cultural or historical.
  • Please note that your programme of study will only be finalised once you have arrived in Birmingham and we cannot guarantee that all modules mentioned here will be available.
  • For any other questions please see Frequently asked questions.
