Module description
2nd year course in structural geology. This course builds on elementary structural geology and focuses on key theories and concepts involved in interpreting the structural evolution of an area. The lecture material links directly to practical exercises which are aimed at providing analytical tools that will enable students critically evaluate and question the central theories and concepts that the course covers. The main coursework is based on a lab experiment where students simulate compression in an analuge sandbox, then analyse their results using their own interpretations and industry standard computer software.
