Module description
Our ability to control complex movements is attributable to three main factors. First, the richness of information with which we supply ourselves (sensory data). Secondly, the way in which the nerves and muscles of the body are specialized for generating movements and maintaining postures. Thirdly, the tremendous wealth of ways in which motor output is adaptively linked to sensory input. The general aim of this course is to consider some of the ways in which the human neuromuscular system has come to excel in these roles. You will build on knowledge obtained from previous physiological/ psychological/ biomechanical modules to provide an in depth understanding of selected areas in motor control.
